GO! Run TROUGH It

WHOA! I'm back! Hahaha, haven't been the best weeks, I was down with some fever, rashes, and hives, followed by some sore throat and more fever, which practically reduced immensely my waking hours else I would attempt to SCRATCH myself impulsively. Not fun, haha, but now I'm back to blogging! Or basically to computer and internet in general too :S. Hopefully in full swing! :D Also, hopefully you have had better days last few weeks than mine, eep!

Anyway, this post is going to be probably pretty much different than my usual posts. Although, I'm not so sure I have any 'usual post', but yes, anyhow. :P

Lately I have been thinking a lot about this. You know one of those moments when you feel like you have something to handle and instead of the facing it, you feel like running away instead?
Have you ever have those moments?
Well yea, those.

I am that kind of person, mostly. Sadly I have to admit that almost every time I have something I need to take care of in which is generally unpleasant for me, or scary, or unknown, to me, fear creeps in and I need to shackle my own feet to eventually face them.
Most of the times I just run away first.

Oh this can be in many forms. It doesn't have to be physically running away surely. That would be very tiring! Although I might become very fit if I do that. Whoop!
But it can be as simple as avoiding thinking, or of course, this would end up in simple procrastination, such as when I was in school, studying for the tests...? I was one of those kids that would cram the materials like an hour before the test. Yep.

Well, even though, I did, to certain extend pass those assignments and tests in school quite okay-ish, well, it wasn't the best thing that could happen was it?

Avoiding tasks or things which I THINK I will not be able to do superbly isn't solving the problem.

Lately I have been thinking that, instead of running AWAY from it, whatever it is that creates this discomfort or stress for me, I should be running TOWARDS it, THROUGH it instead.
Because as someone once said, well, actually quoting, Paul Varjak from 'Breakfast at Tiffany's', *swoon*, he said, 'Because no matter where you run, you just end up running into yourself'. Did I made you feel like Holy Golightly enough just then? :D

...

Running away isn't solving the problem because the happiness, the only solution that we were looking for is at the other end of that whatever we are running from.
So, I've been thinking that only by running THROUGH it, will I ever find the real deal state of peace.

Does that make sense? ... I certainly hope it does.
And I certainly hope that whatever that you are facing right now, or whatever that you are running from right now, even though hopefully there is absolutely none that you need to face and I only wish you all the gentle happiness in this world, but only IF there is any, I certainly hope that you can run THROUGH whatever it is, and reach that happiness that you always deserve. With all the power that can only make you stronger, and all the best lessons that can only make you a better person that then can take only at ease any future variations. :)

So there, I just rambled. I prefer to call it heart to heart talk though. :) Not sure you would enjoy this kind of very wordy opinionated probably irrelevant-to-you post, but, there it was. Ooufff!

Happy Wednesday, may weekend feels like it comes sooner than ever! :))

Liebster Blog Award (... Again)

Déjà vu? Haha! :D I know I just did this last month. But I had been tagged again by the lovely Cathy from Hello, Cathy, yup, the one in the button on my side bar (go check her lovely blog! :D), and apparently I actually love writing these, so here we go again :P, and Cathy dear, thank you soooo much, and here are your answers! :D

1. Plaid or Stripes?
STRIPES! Haha! Red and white or navy blue and white! Make me feel nautical! :P
2. What do you hate
What do I hate?... Hmmm... real hate is such a strong word, but if hate as in annoyed by, well I  I do have pet peeves, haha, one of the silliest is when someone touch my computer screen! Oh please don't!! :S
3. Favorite thing to bake?
MUFFINS!!! YUUUMMM! --or apple pies... *drool
4. Mountain hike or Beach?
BEACHHH!! Haha... I feel so strongly about this.
5. Favorite thing to blog about?
Oh hmmm... I suppose my random thoughts haha, not sure that would be the most relateable or enjoyable to read though.
6. Favorite hairstyle to wear?
Up in a bun! Or french-plaited. Haha, because they are the easiest and else my hair tend to go extremely frizzy! Lion-like!
7. Most embarrassing childhood memory?
Hmmm... I never know what to answer about this. I was basically a very shy yet aloof-looking child (always looked frowning, haha), so I would shy away from any embarrassing moment possibilities, but I suppose there was this one time where I was daydreaming during some lesson when I was 6, --was completely zoned out, and apparently did that out loud, as I was clinking my bangles apparently quite loudly. Then the teacher called me out for being 'noisy' and disturbing the lesson. Oops! I'm sure I was bright red by then.
8. Seaworld or Disneyland?
Oh no! Tough choice!!! Hahaha, I'm going to say Disneyland! Because I have never been there, oh how I'd love to! :D
9. Twitter or Instagram?
Haha, errhhh... can I say Youtube, Tumblr, and Wikipedia? :P
10. Television or Internet?
INTERNET! Duh! HAHAHA.
11. Favorite childhood show that you use yo watch?
Oh so many! Haha, not used to though, I still watch them whenever I can, oh such embarrassing guilty pleasure. :P But probably when I was younger, mostly The Simpsons and Sesame Street. :D

Thanks again to Cathy for nominating me, and ... I'm not going to nominate anyone in particular this time, but if you're reading this and you want to do this, feel free to do so! :D My questions here

Wishing you a great week!

A Day Out with A Friend

I went out with a friend last weekend. Finally, as we've been planning to do so for months, and since we are not the most outgoing persons. There are 2 more posts coming up about this, but in the meantime, here are some pictures from the day! :)

Nothing really exciting or out of the ordinary, usual chit chat in quiet places. We went to the bookshop, then to the coffee shop, then the pizza place. Gosh! Sounds really boring, haha.

One thing that I like to do in bookshops is finding rather interesting weird books, but aren't we all? :) This time the one that caught my attention is this book that says 'HOW TO BE INTERESTING! Places to go, and things to do!' (I'm pretty sure our 'itinerary' that day is not the list :S).

Now this book is placed face-front. Unlike any other book around it that was placed side-front. But more than the title and the placement, placed next to it is the another book that has within the title 'Starting Today!', and next to it is another book that has in its title 'Bad Ideas' (to be fair I think the real title was 'Good Ideas Bad Ideas'. But is it clever marketing or what?

Or well, no, haha. Because in my mind it now sounds like;
'How to be interesting? Places to go, and things to do! We can tell you! Start today!',
and there is another voice that says immediately,
'DON'T. It's a bad idea!'.

:D Have anyone ever read this book, let me know! :))

Anyway, then my friend ordered a Nutella drink in the newly opened coffee shop, which by the the name of it, oh goodness! YUUMMM! Nutella drink? Yes please! Hoping to escape the thought of the possible fat content. :P Also, to be fair, it was too sweet, and so kind of tasted too stuffy after a bit she said. But it was worth the try. We should try to make this on our own sometimes, if you love Nutella as much as I do! :)
Next, simply put we were too hungry to snap any photograph of the food and drinks, and so please pardon the blurry probably more-appalling-than-appealing picture. :S But it was delicious! :)) I love Pizza Express, their aglio olio spaghetti plain, and the one pizza with pitiful artichoke and courgette one, which both are in their vegetarian menu apparently.

It was great meeting an old friend, always. Regardless everything else. Should it rain and hail any day, and I'm meeting a friend that day, I'm sure I'd still call it a good day. How was your last weekend?! :)

A Valentine's Day Gift Idea for Friends

I went to an all-girl school, and most of us didn't have any boyfriends at the time, but every Valentine's Day, it was a day to look forward too!

Why...?

CHOCOLATESSS! :D

Because on every Valentine's Day morning, we would arrive at our desks and find chocolates or little sweets waiting sweetly on the desks. :D

Some of us 'made' (as in prepare, mold and add flavours and such) some chocolates and wrap them (with ribbons and cards too) and give them to each other.

It was definitely a sweet gesture of friendship and general kindness, and of course they were easy to make. But it was lovely and yummy all the same (to nibble quietly during classes :D).
I kind of miss those days, and so here's an idea to give little gifts to our girl friends on Valentine's Day! :) Even though this one is more for a night in on Valentine's Day, since this year it falls on a Friday.

Happy Valentine's day!

Liebster Blog Award 2014

During the past week, I'm so excited, happy, and thankful that I have been nominated for the Liebster Award by 3 wonderful bloggers! Yay!
So I would like to thank Zuza, Lisa, and Billur, and their loveliest blogs (check them out!) thank you so much for the kind nominations, and here are the questions in order respectively. :D

Zuza's questions:
1) What's your favorite model?
I'm not quite sure, but generally anything clean, simple, and lean looking...? :)

2) Your best winter memory
Walking home from the train station after the last train around 12am with a special someone singing 'Lucky' outloud, trying not to wake the neighbours, trying to beat the cold. :P

3) When you'll start your winter break?
No winter break for me! Oh the things I miss from school.

4) Favorite t-shirt ;)
This one! :)

Either that or any grey t-shirt. I love grey on t-shirts.

5) Names of your best friends
I need to ask yet whether I can put their names here, :) for the mean time; Princess S, D, and R.

6) For how long do you blog?
Since 2011, but much more regularly since August 2013. :))

7) Do you prefer shopping online or real?
Real. Unless I have a trusted online shop where I know the fabric and sewing will be always good.

 8) Favorite actor / actress and film they played :)
Vera Farmiga from 'Up in the Air', Joan Allen that Pamela Landy from the Bourne series, Julia Stiles, from '10 Things I Hate About You', and of course the current darling, Jennifer Lawrence. Her boyfriend is not so bad either, just saying, ;) calling out Nicholas Hoult.

9) Do you dance? If yes, what is your favorite style?? ;)
Used to! And I miss it badly. I used to dance in a marching band as a part of the Colour Guard team. So what kind of dance is that? I think weird, a mixture or modern dance sometimes, with elements from jazz and ballet thrown in. Also was in a dance student club in university with mostly hip hop style.

 Lisa's questions:
1) Do you already thought in make a youtube channel?
Many times! Seriously. Not that it might be any awesome or something, I just want to make one. Soon. Pretty soon. Hopefully. :)

2) What your family think about your Blog?
Okay, ... I guess... haha, either that or they don't care enough, I haven't bothered to show them though.

3)What is your favourite quote?
Ohhh too many! Last month it was this, 'Most people are other people. Their thoughts are someone else's opinions, their lives a mimicry, their passions a quotation.', said Oscar Wilde. I feel sneered by that quote, and I kind of like that. :P

4)What makes you smile?
Babies! :)) Children, tots, without fail.

5) Best trip you ever done!
I don't do trips much, but probably the ones I have every night,... my dreams... Crazy.

6) Favorite skirt!
Very full skirt! :)) Borrowed from mum's old collections.

7) Favourite food!
Too many! Pizza, pasta, green leafy vegetables, chocolate, cheese, berries, I can go on, ... --Oh I know! The answer to that is anything I know so far, except for papayas, carrots, and melons.

8) What you think about your channel?
Haha, I just hope it's entertaining enough. I think it's cute and soothing. Or I'd like to think it that way. Something people would come home to, and watch before bed, and put them to sleep, zzz... :P

9) How do you think about yourself in 7 years?
Absolutely no idea.I never really think about the future like that. Maybe I should.

10) What are your favourite blogs?
Jackie's, Emilie's, Noor's & Areeba's, ladyfaceblog (makes me want to eat or live in my screen EVERY TIME), and this one, inmyownstyle, makes me want to get up and fix my home. Which it needs. Badly.

11) One fashion guru?
MissGlamorazzi! The first (and maybe only one?) I ever subscribed to! She makes me feel like doing my nails, hairs, and eyebrows, etc. even on my laziest days. :)

 Billur's questions:
1. If you could change the place you live , where you would want to go ?
Somewhere in Europe... maybe? Haha, never tried, so I say maybe. But definitely somewhere quaint, but definitely near to modern city and facilities and vibrant lifestyle options, with cool weather (my hair needs that, please), and good abundant food and fresh produces.

2.One song that describes you ?
Oh, gosh! Haha, too many! On the top of my mind now, well, 'The End of the World' by Skeeter Davis and 'On My Own' from Les Misérables, a scream for the hopeless romantic in me, or... 'A Dream Is A Wish Your Heart Makes', as I'm an utter perpetual dreamer. :S Pretty badly.

3.The best movie you've ever watched.
THE BEST??? Wow, I really love watching sooo many movies, but I have a constant few favourites so far. :) I love Tim Burton's 'Big Fish', 'Mona Lisa Smile', 'La Vita è Bella', 'Amélie', 'The Blind Side', and 'Fight Club'.

4.When you open your wardrobe which colour caughts your eye ?
Depends on the time of the day or occasion; in the morning, BLACK, the blackest black ever, --after noon or for a day out, light flowery patterned ones, --for special occasions, ALWAYS white or gold. Bling!

5.What is the most important thing in your room (except your bed ) ?
My quilt. *hugs my quilt By quilt I mean a thick duvet one.

6.What color is your room , would you like to change it?
Blue! Has always been blue. :) I added some creamy ivory a few years ago, and changed the previously periwinkle blue (my favourite colour) to a very light powdery blue, which apparently is also referred to as Ghost White in Wikipedia. :S I ... hope... the name does not attract some other entity with similar quality... ...
If I ever change it again I think I'd love it to be perfectly bright white and maybe a little bit of light blue. :))

7.If you could master any instrument on earth, what would it be?
You mean musical instrument only? :D Alright, ... cello! And the guitar, and the piano, and the violin. :D

8. Ever fantasize about being in a rock band? What would your group be called?
Haha, not really, going solo though, multiple times. ;) But bands are cool, haven't think of a decent name yet though. I think I'll leave it to the group's decision. My entry would be something like, 'The Shines'. But maybe that name is patented. I just think it would be funny, remembering, 'people throw rocks at things that shines'. :P There's a Taylor Swift song is playing on my mind typing this.
https://www.google.com/#q=come%20play%20with%20us%20danny

9.Have you ever won an award? What was it for?
Some small competition drama trophy! :P It was a group effort of around 3 people or so, but they 'let' me take care of the trophy.

10. How long can you (comfortably) go without checking your emails or texts? How do you feel about that?
Sometimes for days, but some other time, every hour or so, and in between those hours --MISERABLE!

11. What’s your guiltiest of guilty pleasures?
This one's easy! Crunching ice and sleeping waaaay past midnight. :S Are you annoyed by ice crunchers? Ooh, and also, senselessly watching YouTube videos and obsessing over celebrities senselessly. Futile.

Phew! That was a mighty long post! :) Maybe I could've just selected either one, or either 3 or 4 questions of each, but I didn't feel that would do your questions justice. :S Also, since I don't have any proper 'About' page yet, probably this can make up for that for the time being. :)

Now, as of mine, here are my nominees and questions! :))

My nominees:
Jess, Victoria, Kara, Gracy Poppy, Lydia, Sumitra, Emme, Clarie, Xang, I'll add up 1 more soon. :)

  2. Why did you start blogging?
  3. What is your favourite type of post (to write and read)?
  4.  Did blogging change you? --How have blogging influenced you?
  5. As of now, what do you think of your blog, and is there anything you would like to change from it? :)

  8. Your current favourite song? --When you listen to it, do you listen to the music, or the lyrics?
  9. Last movie you watch and how was it?

Happy New Year!!!

It's finally here! The new year! :D

2013 passed in a lightning speed in a way. As I stood out there, in my front yard, in my pyjamas, looking out at the crazy fireworks in the sky, while:
a.) trying to avoid the raining remnants like they were some kind of meteorites,
b.) standing mightily in the midst of everything (literally, the smoke gave no other option but to look UP),
I could barely believe that it has been a year since the last time I, well, stood out there, in my front yard, in my pyjamas, looking at the crazy fireworks in the sky. A YEAR. I mean, THREE HUNDRED AND SIXTY FIVE days, three hundred and sixty five DAYS. REALLY? Just making sure it wasn't a leap year. Hmh.

:D

No, what I really mean is that it doesn't feel that long since then. It made me think (of course) of how the last year has been spent.
I find it quite interesting really, how some relatively universally imposed sense of time can get me thinking and got me that sense of urgency. Because to think about it in another way, well, 'Chill, Emm, it's just another day tomorrow.' Well, kudos for those of you who think so, because last night, I TOTALLY FREAKED OUT. Haha.

It got me thinking of we cannot travel back in time (duh!), and that the answer to 'What have I done in the last year?' is 'Not much, really,..'.
So well, to keep things in track, for this year, as I have never done before, EVER, I have determined that I will set some the-ever-so-cliché new year's resolutions. But, I'll save that for another post.

What have you done in the last year that you are proud of? :D HOW DID YOU SPEND YOUR NEW YEAR'S EVE?

I hope you had a great one anyhow!!

Lastly, here are some dodgy pictures from last night.

Cheers, to the new year, from my bubbly-celebratory-drink drinking glass! :D
May this new year fly high like it's filled with some kind of unicorn magic or something.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

It's CHRISTMAS! Finally!

Wishing you and your loved ones a wonderful Christmas time, and a happy HOLIDAY!! :D
Let the twelve days of Christmas begin! :)

In another note, I was supposed to go to a Christmas dinner with friends tonight, but I am currently down with the cold, so I don't have much of a Christmas celebration story here.

I hope you're having a better Christmas celebration, and,... probably,... if you're going out to a dinner party where you know there will be this person that you really like there, I'm just saying, but, wearing a mistletoe berries bow might come in handy. Just maybe. ;)
Who knows? Besides, it definitely counts as a festive accessories.

Happy Christmas everyone! :))

All warm and fuzzy inside (and shivering with the cold physically),

Some Quick Words... #7 - In Shaping the Future

I suppose if I really want to be a good cook then I reckon I should've start cooking carefully and reading, and practising, all those cooking techniques as of now. Start acting like a real good cook will!

Hmmm...

Well, just saying, IF... and really... can be quite a devastating combination.

Some Quick Words... #6 - When things get tough ...

Strew rainbow dust in the tornado if possible, or bleed rainbow instead... ?

Whatever that means...

What I meant really was to make it awesome instead... Kind of try to dance in the rain... The initial image in my mind was a girl who was little by little scarred, scratched, bleeded, and turned to dust particles by a vicious whirlwind...

But then I thought it will be to gory to depict. So no, I thought, rainbow dust instead :).

Sometimes when things get tough we can feel so caught up in the situation and in the end sort of lose a sense of who we are. Questioning almost every aspect of ourselves, losing the will to try anymore, or in my case the easiest tale-tell, neglecting personal appearance. Not extremely. But bad enough for people to notice. :))

Don't! The whirlwind will pass, and may we come out of it with an upgraded version of ourselves. Perhaps even sparkling gold instead.

Yes,

Blogtember Day 1 - What I Come From

Blogtember day 1! Woohoo! The topic for today is to...

"Describe where or what you come from.
The people, the places, and/or the factors that make up who you are".

Hmmm... what comes to your mind when you first read the topic?

Well,... personally, for me, it seems like, basically, it boils down to this 1 word: PEOPLE...
To me, whatever place or factor contributions will ultimately be delivered through people.

Nope, not shoving the responsibility of shaping myself to other people. But saying, that what affected me shaping me, were eventually, be it directly or indirectly, these people, through my observations and learned behaviours from them,... or through my learned responses to them. They were a part of my source of knowledge, my shepherds, or my lighthouse so to say.

As for me, these people are namely, my Mum and Dad, and my high school teachers. Say Hello to my Mum, my Dad, and my high school teachers.

Yep, the teachers weren't that cheerful.

These are the people who directly or indirectly shaped me (so far). My ME sculptors.

Now writing this, I just realised that it seems like my self development stopped since high school?? Eep!

Anyway,... My mum is a person whom I think will never grow up. Not that it's wronggg (!), as I don't really like to label people as "immature", let alone telling people to 'Oh, grow up you!' (there are really 3 reasons for this I think, if you really want to know; 1. I think growing up is a lifetime development process, 2. it is very subjective, and 3. I feel that if I say that, that sorts of justifies my self that I am mature and the other person is not, the other person is less than me, and thus a sense of arrogance, self-justification, which might be misleading. I don't enjoy that feeling).

Gladly we (me and my mum) have never been checked for mental health, as if we did, I'm sure we'll be labeled by a dozen of mental issues. But just take it in my words, I think she is a very emotional person, girly, and moody sometimes... and she expresses them all the time if you know what I mean (read: can be a test to any ordinary person who are used to ordinary average human responses living under the same roof with her during those times).
Don't get me wrong, Mum, you know I love you in every possible way. :D In every delicate possible way. :P

Also, it is not all bad about her, she has some good qualities too. People would think that she would crack under a lot of stress. She WILL quack and make you want to sack yourself from being around her yes, but she is persistent in pulling it through, and most of the times she will make them through. Point is, she might be tougher than we think. Unless in conditions where it needs petty physical or mental strength, such as opening bottles, fixing the sewing machine, or ... believe it or else, setting the washing machine for a wash. Then, she will use her girl power for things like these. By girl power I mean,... 'FERDYYYYY!!!!!!!!!'. Ferdy is really my Dad, just to make it clear.
Another thing that I really love about my Mum, is that I think she has a timeless beauty, elegance in appearance, and taste of apparels, and the knack to make beauty products and things to take care herself with from bare necessities. I sure do hope she passes down these qualities to me as well. Although whenever I look into the mirror, I think I have more rough manly quality than her obvious feminine quality. Sigh.

Growing up, I never realised how much I would turn up to resemble my mother in behaviours and characteristics. Until... I went on my own venture to find the ever so famous LOVE.

My parents' relationship has always been the only relationship I know of that I can relate and take as an example of. Well, theirs and those depicted Hollywood made romantic-comedies which are likely to be as unrealistic to what are apparently common. My Mum's responses and behaviours can be thought as exclusively my only reference on how a woman should behave in a relationship. Only yes, now I know that my Dad is a specimen of a rare breed of the extincting species of very-very-patient-gentlemen. Yup, that is the species name.

There was a time up until the age of 7-ish where I was very close with my Mum. We would sleep holding hands, mind you. Or more like me asking to hold her finger. She might be fed up with me even by then. My Dad in those days was working all the time, anddd... he would shoo me every time he was doing his work (he worked from home).

But then,... I grew very close to my Dad since, and I also found some things about myself that, no doubt, was learned from him. My late night and long showers are definitely learned from him, my helplessness stoic stance against emotional people also came from him, ... and maybe, just maybe (wishing), my sense of humour if I have any. Quirky, funny, and self-depreciating.
My father was also a very hard worker. He is also persistent (Ticked! Now I have this trait from both my parents), but with very little self confidence sometimes.

Now on to my last influence, my high school teachers! See when it was time to pick my high-school, I succumbed to the will of my Mum and fate to be enrolled in a... well, I wouldn't say posh, but it was prestigious. Girls my age back then would join the Hunger Games to be in it. Well not literally. Little did they know it was also some kind of Hunger Games once you're inside. A mental kind of Hunger Games.

Pardon me, okay, let me explain. It was a top high school that parents who wanted badly to be proud of their girls (it was an all girl very strict school), want their girls to be enrolled in. Badly, and I mean badly.

Now, there are some characteristics that will naturally come if you have ever been involve with such school:
1. Pride
2. Slight Jane Austen conventional feminism
3. Competitiveness
4. Social awkwardness
Please, the closest contact to a boy that we could get was the remains of the school janitor's fingertouch on our desks while cleaning them. Erm, that came out wrong...

Anyhow, these traits, were what were reflected perfectly on our school teachers, which very unsurprisingly were mostly (really, 90%-10%)... FEMALE! They seem fit to be Professor McGonagall's closest lady friends. Even Professor McGonagall was once married apparently. But these teachers, they chose themselves NOT to marry.
Now in my earliest clue of spinsterhood I start to think about them more than often. How I can understand even more their pattern of thinking, and how it rubbed me more than I thought I allowed. Hmmm... forging my way to the perfect path of Beatrix Potter. Not as great.

It was fun. I hope you had fun too reading it. Oh, it is always fun to be given the chance to 'talk' about our own parents. :P Or, okay, I might made this chance myself.

Happy Blogtember!

Some Quick Words... #4 - Believe Quote

"I BELIEVE in you"
you should believe in yourself too

Sometimes you just need to believe it for a start... or someone who believes in you...
